| All photographs on this site were taken by the late Thomas Fred
Wright Jr. In the 1940's and early 50's he was a shipfitter at
Welding Shipyards Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia. He was an avid
amateur
photographer and his photos here are proof that he was very proud to
have taken a part in the building of what was then the largest oil
tankers ever built. Photographs exhibited here include the
following ships: |
| Ship |
Year Launched |

| Ulysses | 1947 | 3 | Bulkoceanic | 1949 | 6 | Bulktrader | 1950 | 4 | ||
| Bulkoil (II) | 1949 | 4 | Bulkstar | 1949 | 1 | Danginn | 1950 | 3 |

Missing here is the Bulkpetro launched in 1948. If he took
any photos of it, they have not survived. The Danginn was not a tanker, but a 191 foot yacht built for the shipyard's owner, Daniel K. Ludwig. |
